Some ramblings about cool sh*t in movies.

Aliens is my favourite film from the whole Alien series, still, even though it is so old, as it isn't a movie that relies too heavily on special effects it is still really good. Watching Alien is still scary, even though they were so cheap about it.. I love the way they build the suspense with the beep of the motion detector.. and Aliens has Sigourney Weaver as one of my favourite bad ass women, this moment is one of my favourite bad ass moments in a film;

Another, un-related but great moment that came to mind from Orphan;

Then there are the girls who get revenge on the creepy stalker/murderer in Death Proof.. 

Those are a few of the moments where your inner American jock jumps up and says "YEAH!" ...

Kurt Russell plays 'Stuntman Mike' so well he is really up there in the creepiest bad guy ever list with Javier Bardem in his role as 'Anton Chigurh' in 'No Country for Old Men', another great movie.

Valentine's day

Today is the day after Valentine's day, and I had a bit of travel time so I was looking at my timeline and found that so many people had put pictures of flowers and chocolates there..

First of all.. I don't want a present because card company's say so.. I'd like a present that's given with some meaning..
Secondly, if someone had got me flowers and chocolate on any other day maybe I'd post it on FB as a pleasant surprise (I post way less important things all the time) but on Valentines day no.. I'd be appreciative, cos I love chocolate and yeah flowers are pretty but I don't see the need to advertise that i was bought exactly what everyone thinks they should get their gf, with no thought at all. If my bf knew me a little he would get me a large jar of nutella and a bouquet of Lillys (yeah they're funeral flowers but they're my favourites).. its at least a variation on the theme.. and would show that maybe he wasn't just going through the motions.. a previous Valentine's day present was a bundle of PlayStation games... that's a present that says I know what you like and want.
Valentine's is also a day of love confessions right? Be my Valentine and all that? Its not impressive to get someone almost exactly the same as everyone else.. I'd be in underwhelmed by the lack of imagination.. LOL am I just being harsh?
I don't wanna sound bitter because I'm not.. I really enjoyed watching things get blown up and one of the best car chase scenes ever in A Good Day to Die Hard yesterday for Valentine's n had a super chill evening.. it was great.. I was just looking down my timeline and feeling a little sorry for the people who only get flowers and chocolate on Valentine's day..
On a side note I could see who had forked out and who hadn't.. I mean some of these posts were right next to each other.. sometimes the last poster made the first poster's flowers look really cheap.. @.@

Winter Cold

This weekend was epic. There was drinking, merriment, snow, rain... cold... I think it has taken its toll.

Woke up this morning feeling rough with a swollen throat.. and I know this feeling so I figured, get the drugs, deal with the symptoms for now, and try to ride out this inevitable winter cold wave.

After digging through the various cold remedies and tablets that our mother left behind for us, the only things I recognised were some dissolve-able Beechams packets. I decided on a shot (glass) of Beechams... it tasted so bad that it tugged at my stomach and I was nearly sick but it did the trick and I was wandering around (the house) all day, and had completely forgotten that I was sick in the first place.

This evening, in order to avoid the near puking I switched for a flavoured Beechams this time, and I can say that a spoonful a shit ton of sugar makes the medicine foul-tasting-concoction-trying-to-pass-as-a-hot-fruit-drink go down.. but not fast enough. ugh. The I hope this cold is gone when I wake up :'(
